TRADE PROMOTION CONFERENCE IN BINH DINH: VIETNAM - CANADA BUSINESS ASSOCIATION (VCBA)
In the morning of March 28th 2024, at Binh Dinh Provincial Convention Center, Trade Promotion Conference with the VCBA were taken place. The Conference Attendants were included Mr. Pham Anh Tuan – Deputy Secretary of the Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung - Former Consul General of Vietnam in Vancouver Canada and Mr. Dan On - Chairman of Vietnam – Canada Business Association (VCBA). Binh Dinh Provincial attendants were included The leaders of Binh Dinh Provincial Departments and Binh Dinh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA) With the theme: "Canada – Gateway for Vietnamese businesses to access to North American market”, the Conference attracted a large number of Canadian and Binh Dinh businesses to attend and search for cooperation opportunities.
With the opening speech at the Conference, beside the information about the Binh Dinh Provincial natural conditions, socio-economic development in recent times and the investing and developing orientations in the coming time, Mr. Chairman also invited Canadian investors to invest to Binh Dinh Province in five main pillars, including industry, tourism, high-tech agriculture, port and logistic services, and the development of integrated urban economy with the urbanization process. Binh Dinh Province preferentially attracted projects with green modern technology, with efficient use of resources and with products with competitive advantages. Moreover, Binh Dinh Province focused on organizing of international sports, trade, tourism and cultural events to develop the marine sports’ economic sector. Regarding the cooperative relationship with Canada, the field of economics and trade relationship was not as our desire, according to Chairman of the Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee. In 2023, Binh Dinh Provincial two-way trade turnover with Canada was estimated to reach USD 18.7 million, of which exports are estimated to reach USD 17.2 million and imports were estimated to reach USD 1.5 million. Up till now, there had been only 02 projects invested by Canadian businesses in Binh Dinh Province with a total registered capital of more than USD 2.7 million in garment sector. There were not projects of Canadian investors in NEZ and Binh Dinh Provincial IPs.
At the Conference, Mr. Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee also suggested four groups of issues for the two sides to strengthen the expansion of cooperation and connection, which could make real practical results. Particularly, VCBA and its members were interested in cooperating and connecting with Binh Dinh's wood businesses to consume in Canadian market and North American countries with agricultural, forestry and marine products which were the provincial strengths. For those who were interested and wanted to invest to Binh Dinh, Mr. Chairman committed to creating the best conditions for businesses and investors. And also, Mr. Chairman hoped that VCBA would be a bridge linking members of the Association and other investors to invest in 05 above main pillars of the Provincial development. Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, also hoped that the Association and businessmen would connect and introduce more tourists to tour Binh Dinh Province and to increase the exchanging cooperation in education and training for Vietnamese children who would go learning and studying in Canada and would return to work in Vietnam partly contributing to the country's development.
After the period of focusing on investing and completing technical and social infrastructure, especially the connecting transportation system to Nhon Hoi Economic Zone (NEZ) and all provincial IPs, Binh Dinh Province was now promoting investment and trade attraction. With the advantages of well-planned IPs (such as Becamex VSIP Binh Dinh IP with total area of 1,000 hectares), site clearance with large ready area along with planning for city economic development and coastal tourism, Binh Dinh Province is ready to welcome all investors and businesses from all over the world, including investors from Canada.
Also the Conference, VCBA let Binh Dinh businesses know the information on Vietnam – Canada trade relations, consumption trends in Canada, methods of exporting goods to Canada and the plans to show Vietnamese products in Canada – the gateway for Vietnamese businesses to access to North American market.
With the theme: "Canada – The Gateway for Vietnamese businesses to access North American market", The Conference was a good opportunity for provincial leaders, businesses and associations to meet, to share information and to strengthen connections on trade promotion activities, on finding potential partners and new business cooperation and export opportunities. Right then, the chance for businesses to search for investment and trade promotion opportunities in Binh Dinh Province had been created.
