A USD 1.5 BILLION OFFSHORE WIND POWER FARM COMING TO BINH DINH PROVINCE
In the morning of September 01st 2020, Mr. Nguyen Phi Long, Deputy Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee and Director of Binh Dinh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA) welcomed and worked with Mr. Marko Walde, Representative Delegate Chief of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam, and Leaders of German PNE AG Group in Vietnam, including Mr. Tran Minh – Senior Director and Ms. Bui Thu Thuy – Project Manager on The Project of Wind Farm Offshore Binh Dinh Province. Binh Dinh attendants were Leaders of Provincial Departments such as Foreign Affairs’ Department, Planning and Investment Department, Industry and Trade Department, Natural Resources and Environment Department, Agriculture and Rural Development and BEZA.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Phi Long, Deputy Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee and Director of BEZA introduced Binh Dinh Provincial potentials and advantages in wind power as well as offshore wind power development. For the past few years, many investors had paid attention on projects of renewable energy in the province of which 24 projects permitted to survey by the authority, 08 projects finished their investment procedures for setting up and 03 projects put under operation, including Phương Mai 3 Electric Wind Farm Project and Fujiwara Electric Solar and Wind Farm Project in Nhon Hoi Economic Zone (NEZ), and Electric Solar Farm Project in Cat Hiep Village.
PNE AG Group expressed the desire to survey and set up an offshore electric wind farm with output capacity from 500MWp to 700MWp, total investment capital from USD 1.3 billion to USD 1.5 billion and with total area from 2,200 hectares to 2,500 hectares of sea surface. The location of the project was suggested on the sea surface to the East of NEZ. The investor really needed the assistance from Binh Dinh Province in procedure fulfillment and other solutions for the difficulties in project’s developing steps.
With the speech at the meeting, Mr. Deputy Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee and Director of BEZA highly estimated the investment idea from PNE AG with a huge project in Binh Dinh Province. The Province’s leaders committed to create best conditions for The Group to develop the above huge project. Facing many procedures from other ministries, this huge project should be carefully carried out in right order. At first, PNE AG had to quickly process the steps procedure and to submit official document to Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee. Mr. Nguyen Phi Long also requested Provincial Planning and Investment Department, as a head gate, to co-ordinate with BEZA and other provincial departments in supporting PNE AG Group to overcome all the difficulties to finish their project.
