SEMINAR ON POTENTIAL FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN COASTAL QUYNHON BETWEEN BINHDINH PROVINCE AND DUTCH ENTERPRISES

With the welcome speech at the Seminar, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan introduced the overview of Binh Dinh natural – social conditions and affirmed that the current socio-economic infrastructure of Binh Dinh, especially the provincial traffic, trade and service ones, Nhon Hoi Economic Zone (NEZ) and Provincial industrial parks had been preferentially invested in modern purposes and identified as one of the three breakthroughs in socio-economic development of Binh Dinh in the near future. The transportation system has basically been completed, synchronous and convenient to connect Provincial regions together with full types of transportation. Quy Nhon City has been identified by The Government as a Grade 2 Logistic Center with a system of local warehouses and storage facilities and surround areas that have being planned and built according to the requirements of industrial, commercial, tourism and logistic service activities. Over recent years, many big investors have chosen Binh Dinh to invest and develop business activities. One of them was Becamex IDC Corporation, a leading trademark in investment and development of city infrastructure and industrial parks in Vietnam, the main infrastructure investor of Becamex VSIP Binh Dinh Industrial Park on an area of 1,000 hectares, which was expected to create breakthroughs in the development of local industries and services. Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee has strengthened the important role of promotion and investment attraction for domestic and foreign enterprises, including Dutch enterprises. At present, in the whole Province, there is only one Project of animal feed processing factory of the Dutch branch of De Heus Co., Ltd. on an area of about 04 hectares in Nhon Hoa IP, with a total investment capital of USD 20.1 million and operating in 2018. Therefore, the reality is not commensurate with the potential of the two sides.

At the Seminar, Mr. Daniel Coenraad Stork Daniel - Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City affirmed the importance of the friendly relationship between the two countries of the Netherlands – Vietnam over the half century past. He also highly appreciated the potential and advantages of Binh Dinh Province and the strengths of the Netherlands in the fields of marine economy, also. 

Mr. Pham Viet Anh, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands, showed that the strength of the Netherlands stemmed from the agility of thinking an creativity in approaches and the way of synthesizing resources to realize long-term goals in a strategy of overall. Cooperation with the Netherlands is not only project, but we can consult and learn many special things from this special country. It is from the developing requirements of Vietnam and from the strength of the Netherlands, and as the result, the two countries have built a strategic cooperative relationship. For long duration of The Seminar, DBAV, Dutch enterprises, Becamex IDC Corporation, Becamex Binh Dinh Joint Stock Company and related businesses had exchanged ideas about Potential for Economic Development in Coastal Quy Nhon. The opinions focused on discussing solutions to develop marine economy and sea-related fields such as logistics projects together with current Quy Nhon seaport in combining sea transport with domestic transportation linking the central provinces and Central Highlands, the field of exploiting, farming and processing local seafood, agricultural production of high-tech, and especially, the field of producing renewable energy with wind power projects, which is the strength of Dutch enterprises. At the Seminar, the sharing of De Heus Netherlands Co., Ltd. about the things of interest when investing in Binh Dinh was also highly estimated. And Becamex Binh Dinh Joint Stock Company, the main infrastructure investor of Becamex Binh Dinh IP – City and Service, introduced the project with outstanding advantages that businesses would receive together with investing decision.

Answering questions from businesses attending the Seminar, especially the enterprises from the Netherlands searching investment opportunities in Binh Dinh Province, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee let them know there were 86 FDI projects in the Province at the moment and wished to attract more in the coming time. Particularly, Binh Dinh would preferentially select environmentally friendly projects in the fields of waste treatment, agricultural product processing and high-tech industrial projects. Mr. Chairman also said that Binh Dinh had plans to build a large-scale waste plant with advanced technology, as well as regularly aiming to reduce carbon dioxide into the environment, while encouraging the exploitation of wind energy. This was a huge opportunity for Dutch enterprises.

The Seminar on promoting and attracting Dutch enterprises to Binh Dinh Province shows the determination of The Province as well as Becamex IDC Corporation and Becamex Binh Dinh Joint Stock Company in investment promotion activities. Also, The Seminar creates opportunities for Dutch enterprises to cooperate and invest to Binh Dinh in order to exploit the provincial potential and advantages of a coastal locality, to contribute strengthening the cooperation relationship between Binh Dinh, Vietnam and the Netherlands in the near future. This event is also a meaningful activity towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Netherlands in the next year 1973 – 2023.

Together with the chain of Events on Potential for Economic Development in Coastal Quy Nhon Seminar, The Delegation Guests from the Netherlands paid a short visit to FPT Quy Nhon University (A young university of IT in Quy Nhon City), Quy Nhon Sea Port and Becamex Binh Dinh IP – City and Service Areas in NEZ before holding roundtable discussion on sustainable development and constructing a system of seaports and logistics.
